Salerno, September 9th 1943: Alternative Historical Campaign Scenario: Operation Avalanche was an Allied attempt to outflank the German positions in southern Italy and quickly gain control of the strategic port of Naples. This scenario is the same as Alt scenario #1 with additional German reinforcments. This time the axis player has the use of various units that were held in reserve around Naples and who could have seen action in the battle for the beachhead but were historically not used. [Size, large] Designer Note: As in the Alt #1 scenario, this scenario also has the Strategy|Operations option to add the Panthers to the game. In play against the AI, the Axis may or may not add them. However, if the scenario is played between two human opponents, this option should be mutually agreed upon before starting play.
