Aprilia, 10 miles north of Anzio, January 29th 1944: Maj-Gen Penney, commander of the 1st British Infantry Division, was chafing at the bit. The pride of the division was the 24th Guards Brigade, a battle-tested and proven unit of the highest caliber. Penney, after some limited success around Aprilia known as "The Factory", decided to exploit up the Via Anzate to Campoleone. The attack was to go in as night fell, led by the 24th Guards Bde, followed up later by the 46th Royal Tank Regiment. The guardsmen made slow, but steady progress, then they were hit by counter-attacks from all sides. They managed to take, and hold, some ground which became known later as the "Thumb". This ground was soon to become more of a liability than an asset. [Size, small] Designer Note: This scenario has been optimized for HTH play.
