Parichi, 40 kms S of Bobruysk, June 24th 1944: The assault on the vital town of Bobruysk was in the form of a pincer movement, with two Armies and a Tank Corps for each jaw. The lower jaw of this pincer was formed by 65th Army. To the south and southwest of 65th Army, the 28th Army had been ordered to bypass Bobruysk and strike westward toward Minsk. The German Ninth Army held on valiantly, but by the end of the second day of the attack in the south, they were stretched beyond their limit. With no reserves to back them up a Crisis in the South was rapidly developing. [Size, small]
