Dover, Sept 24 1940: The Germans were well aware of the significance of the port of Dover, as were the British. Not only would it afford them a port for their follow up troops to disembark, but the impact on the morale of all Britons would be tremendous with its loss. The close proximity of 2 Landing Zones, B and C, also afforded a really opportunity to acquire a good route to London through Ashford. The elite of the German 16th Army was entrusted this vital task. Axis must capture the port of Dover to have a chance of a Minor Victory. The German player must decide how many reinforcements to arrive since both seaborne and airborne reinforcements suffer heavy losses on entry and points lost must be made up with both Allied casualties and VPs captured. Allies need to slow the German advances and fight delaying actions along the coast line and interior. Allied pill boxes and bunkers play critical defensive roles and can tie down German units needed on the frontlines. Against equal skilled players, the Allies have a slight or moderate advantage. Good replay value.
