Northern Tunisia, Apr 22th 1943: Almost five months have passed since the Allies first drive to capture Tunis in a quick move from the Torch beachheads along the Algerian and Moroccan coast. The Allied and Axis powers have struggled, with the Germans taking the initiative in battles in February. The Axis Army has had it by the time this scenario begins. They are hemmed into a tight perimeter and the campaign is all but over. The Germans have to hold the ports as long as they can and for the Allies the opposite. The weather has improved, gone is the mud of the early and middle periods of the campaign. Take the port of Bizerte and Tunis so the fight can be taken to the soft underbelly of Europe. [Size, large] Designer Note: This is a mini CG optimized for HTH play. The Allied Player in this scenario must really capture Tunis and Bizerte in the historically alloted time while inflicting heavy damage to Axis units. Note - Axis French shore batteries included for historical flair will have little if any impact on play.

The only way for the Axis have a chance for a draw is to do a fighting withdrawal until the defensive lines are set up around Bizerte and Tunis. Then run away to those defenses. It puts the Axis in good defensive positions and creates a bottleneck for the Allies. Like the movie 300.
