Designer Notes: This scenario describes the attack carried out by the 6th Guards Army to break through the German lines during Operation Rumyantsev.
Scenario Briefing: The mission of General Chistiakov's 6th Guards Army was to launch the main attack on his right flank to break through the German line in the area of Novo-Cherkasskoe, Butovo and Dragunskoe, in the direction of Golovchino. The mobile element of the 6th Guards Army, the 5th Guards Tank Corps, would infiltrate through the breach on the fourth day of the offensive with the objective of capturing Akhtyrka. The 6th Guards Army was organized into two echelons, four divisions in the first echelon with two divisions in the second echelon as reinforcements along with the 5th Guards Tank Corps. According to Soviet plans, the 6th Guards Army was to capture Tomarovka at the end of the first day of the offensive, then head southwest along the Vorskla River where the infantry divisions should reach the Trefilovka-Borisovka line. On the third day, it had to reach the area around Golovchino in conjunction with the 27th Army on the right.
