Designer Notes: This scenario describes the Soviet assault across the Severnyy Donets south of Belgorod.
Scenario Briefing: To support the fight for the city of Belgorod, Soviet command planned the assault across the Severnyy Donets River. This would be done with the aim of preventing the arrival of German reserves that would help in the city's defense by enveloping them from the south. The German defense on this side of the front, entrusted to the XI.AK of Armee-Abteilung Kempf, was very solid. The German divisions stationed there already foresaw that the Soviets would try to force the river and had many months to prepare their positions. In addition, the units in charge of the defense of this sector of the river, the 198th and 320th Infantry Divisions, knew the terrain very well since they had been fighting on it for many months already.
