Designer Notes: This scenario describes the 27th Army's reconnaissance in force that was conducted on August 4th, 1943, one day before the Army's full attack. Do NOT choose the Programmed Weather Rule.
Scenario Briefing: The 27th Army was to protect the right flank of the 6th Guards Army in its frontal attack on the town of Tomarovka. The 27th was to begin its own attack on August 5th, two days after the 6th Guards Army had begun advancing on the German defensive positions. The commander of the 27th Army, General Trofimenko, planned a reconnaissance attack for the 4th of August. This limited attack had such good results that it penetrated several kilometers beyond the German lines, allowing the 27th Army to launch its offensive on August 5th with much more optimism.
