Scenario Briefing: The capture of the Dulag airfield was of primary importance so XXIV Corps was selected to land at the beaches nearby, move inland and seize it on the first day of the operation. The inexperienced 96th Infantry Division would land on the northern beaches and take Catmon and Labir Hills while the veteran 7th Division would land near Dulag and take the airfield. Defending the area was the bulk of the Japanese 16th Division and three armored companies. The fighting would be stiff. While the Dulag Airfield would fall to the Allied liberators, Catmon Hill would hold out for several more days.
