Scenario Briefing: With the consolidation of the bridgehead at the Lingayen landings, the XIV Corps was tasked with the march south to capture Clark Field so that Allied air groups could be based there for the duration of the campaign. Timing was critical as the airfield damage would need to be cleared before the runways and facility could be operational again.
The US 40th Division would be on the right flank while the 37th Division would be on the left as the corps advanced to the south. It was decided to have both divisions attack together to shorten the time needed to secure the field. This would prove to be a smart move as the defending Japanese units of the Kembu Group intended on dying to protect the field.
This scenario explores the initial attack from 25-27 January 1945 when the US forces had to struggle up several hills before they could get to the airfield. The Japanese will launch a counterattack on the 26th which will make progress difficult.
Recommended Rules: [Default]
Alternative Assault Resolution, Artillery Set Up, Recon Spotting, Virtual Supply Trucks, Low Visibility Air Effects, Quality Fatigue Modifier, Counterbattery Fire, Night Fatigue, Programmed Weather, Limited Air Recon.
