Scenario Briefing: The US 108th Regimental Combat Team was called on to take four hills west of Bamban just north of Clark Field. Defending the position was the Takayama Detachment of the Kembu Group, a polyglot group of military and service units pressed together to defend the field.
Major General Griswold, CO of the XIV Corps, and his staff, thought that the defenders would put up a hasty defense and then fall back on the airfield. They were proved to be wrong as the terrain favored the defense and the Japanese were ready to put up a stiff fight!
