Date: March 29, 1945 - Size: Medium - Location: Lipa, 70 kilometers south of Manila, South Central Luzon Island, Philippines
Intended for Solo Play as Allies vs. AI.
Scenario Briefing: During the battle to reduce the Shimbu Group east of Manila, it had come to the attention of Gen. Griswald, CO of the XIV Corps, that the Fuji Group was slowly but surely trickling into the mountains to the east of the city and reinforcing the defenders. In an effort to put an end to that, Griswald order the 1st Cavalry and 11th Airborne Divisions to mount an offensive to clear out the remainder of the Shimbu Group in the Lipa Corridor and seal off the Bicol Peninsula.
An initial attack by the 511th Para and 158th RCTs during early to mid March had not been sufficient in that they lacked the force to carry out the to tackle the more numerous defenders. So by the end of March, the 1st Cavalry Division was relieved of its assignment of containing the Shimbu Group east of Manila and the 43rd Infantry Division took its place in the line.
The 1st Cavalry Division would attack the Lipa Corridor area from the north while the 11th Airborne Division would attack from the southwest.
By 11 April they had accomplished their mission and the Fiji Group had all but been eliminated. This scenario requires the Allies to accomplish that same mission in four days.
Note: Units of the 103rd RCT, 43rd Infantry Division, arrive in the northeast corner of the battlefield. Historically, they met up with units of the 5th Cavalry Regiment at Pagsanjan.
Recommended Rules: [Default]
Alternative Assault Resolution, Artillery Set Up, Recon Spotting, Virtual Supply Trucks, Low Visibility Air Effects, Quality Fatigue Modifier, Counterbattery Fire, Night Fatigue, Programmed Weather, Limited Air Recon.
