Scenario Briefing: By early June, the Allies were ready to renew their efforts to secure the Bessang Pass and capture Cervantes thus splitting the Japanese defensive line and completing the northern pincer to encircle the bulk of Yamashita's Shobu Group forces in Northern Luzon.
Reinforced by two more regiments and the newly formed 1st Field Artillery Battalion from the Filipino Division, the Allied drive commenced on June 10th and by the 14th they had taken the Bessang Pass and were able to take Cervantes by the 15th. A fine military victory had been achieved over difficult mountainous terrain by light infantry backed by artillery.
To make the challenge more interesting for the Allied player this scenario is only four days long.
Historical Note: June 14th is celebrated in the Philippines as a National Holiday. To the Filipinos it is just as important as Bastille Day is for the French.
