Date: March 6, 1945 - Size: Large - Location: South of Lake Balaton , 160 km SW of Budapest.
Intended for Head to Head play.
Scenario Briefing: General Rudolf Konrad’s LXVIII Corps of the 2nd Panzer Army with 71st Division, 118th Jager Division, 16th SS-PanzerGrenadier Division "Reichsführer SS" assisted by 1st Mountain Division and some Kampfgruppen, made the main thrust in the area to the south of Lake Balaton with an attack on the 57th Army and the Bulgarian 3rd Corps. The 2nd Panzer Army began attacking toward Nagybajom-Kaposvár road in the morning on March 6. German units struck the boundary between two defending regiments of the 299th Rifle Division on the Jákó axis. 57th Army command threw his second echelon into the fighting: the 104th and 113th Rifle Divisions.
They moved up under the covering fire of the 864th and 1201st Self-Propelled Artillery Regiments and 32nd Guards Motorized Brigade. Aided by a thaw which turned the ground into a muddy morass, the Bulgarians held, as did the 57th Army, even after 2nd Panzer Army twice shifted the direction of attack to the South (Otvoskóny) and to the North (XXII Mountain Corps area near Csomend).
Recommended Rules: [Default] Alternative Assault Resolution, Artillery Set Up, Recon Spotting, Virtual Supply Trucks, Low Visibility Air Effects, Quality Fatigue Modifier, Counterbattery Fire, Night Fatigue, Programmed Weather, Limited Air Recon.
Intended for Head to Head play.
