Intended for Head to Head play.

Scenario Briefing: I SS-Panzer Corps was tasked to reach the Sio Canal and the heights behind it as a jumping-off point.
After the Corps breached the second-line defenses I SS-Panzer Corps’ attack gained momentum cutting the Enying-Dég road about three kilometers west of Dég.
By March 8, the 23rd Panzer Division of II SS-Panzer Corps was ordered to be released to support I SS-Panzer Corps.
The situation began to change dramatically on March 9, I SS-Panzer Corps reached the high ground 2.5 kilometers north of Simontornya before being halted by dug-in antitank guns and heavy artillery fire. The I SS-Panzer Corps was now some 25 kilometers ahead of II SS-Panzer Corps, and the threat of a Soviet counterattack into its exposed flank appeared ever more likely.
The 1st SS-Panzer Division’s attack on the town of Simontornya on March 12 was launched from the high ground north of the Sio canal. Fierce house-to-house fighting lasted all day, but by last light Simontornya north of the Sio was largely in German hands with only a few pockets of resistance remaining.
The 1st SS-Panzer Division’s small bridgehead across the Sio canal at Simontornya was successfully defended throughout the 13th March. There were numerous Soviet counterattacks, all supported by tanks and aircraft.
Meanwhile, the 23rd Panzer Division had managed to clear Saregres on the Sarviz River, but a subsequent attempt to force a crossing of the canal near Cece and Ozora (by 12th SS-Panzer Division) failed in the face of tenacious resistance.
This ended Army Group South’s hopes: no more advances were gained, on the next day Soviet Vienna Offensive was launched.
