Scenario Briefing: On the night of 9-10 March, the 16th SS-Panzer Grenadier Division and the 1st Volks-Gebirg Division were shifted from the Jákó area to the Otvoskónyi-Beleg area, opposite the boundary between the 64th Rifle Corps and the Bulgarian 1st Army. On the afternoon of 10 March, after a 40-minute artillery preparation, the Germans launched an attack that targeted the boundary between the 64th Rifle Corps’ 299th Rifle Division and the Bulgarian 8th Infantry Division. The attack met fierce resistance, becoming bogged down. By 12 March the LXVIII Corps had shifted the axis of its attack to the 57th Army to the north (see #45_0314_42_2nd_Panzer_Army_Last_Try.)
