Scenario Briefing: After opening the left flank of the Sio River beyond Enying, the Axis troops faced a major natural obstacle: the branches of the Sio River. In addition, the town of Enying still held against the flank of the 4th Cavalry Division, so the Corps Commander (Harteneck) ordered capture of the bridges over the Sio River near Leshegy. The town of Ádánd was the final objective of this battle for the rivers as from that location the Corps could endanger the road to Lake Balaton or the key crossing to Mezokomárom. To make matters worse for the Axis, the first Soviet armored formations that the Corps had to face arrived, among them the 22nd (Training) Tank Regiment.
