Designer Notes: This is the instructional Getting Started scenario. The scenario covers the fight on the Martinkovo bridgehead, near Dorogobuzh
Scenario Briefing: The city of Dorogobuzh was one of the fortified cities that protected the road to Smolensk from the east, this town had as its external defense a bridgehead beyond the Dnepr River, to protect this bridgehead the commander of the XXXIX.PzK, the General Martinek, ordered the 35.Infanterie Division to defend the bridgehead to delay the expected attack towards Dorogobuzh. The 35.Infanterie Division, with its Fusilier.Regiment.34 defending the bridgehead, had solid defenses and fortifications in the area. To expel the German units from the Martinkovo bridgehead, Western Front commander Sokolovski ordered Polenov's 5th Army to begin a frontal attack with the idea of not only piercing the German defenses but crossing the Dnepr and threatening Dorogobuzh from the north, for this mission, had two divisions, the 352nd and 312th Rifle Divisions, would the commander of the 35.Infanterie Division, General Merker, be able to defend the bridgehead successfully and delay the Soviet advance?
