24 April, 1944. Somewhere in the Anzio area. Prior to the May
breakout, a stalemate had settled on the battlefield. This included
artillery duels and aggressive patrolling and sniping. Landmarks
quite often were literally dead men. Hans Kottmann's mission
was to creep forward to his sniper blind during the night. At
dawn he was to snipe at the American positions in the destroyed
farm on the valley floor. He was due back 1 hour before the patrol
from 1st platoon arrived back in their lines. Upon the patrols
arrival, they were informed "Hans is missing"! Quickly his friends
volunteered to immediately go back out and look for him. Already
thinking the worse, revenge was building inside them. As they
were leaving Hauptmann Schieffer coolly said "If he is dead,
bring back his weapon".\\Mission: Find Kottmann. Retrieve his
sniper rifle. Avenge your comrade!\\\
