Note: This scenario requires the XME_EF mod from keif149 @ The
Blitz. It will not play or function properly with your stock
ReD Victory game.\Custom map by keif149.\Size small. 15 turns.\Plays
best as pbem and then as the Russians.\This scenario is based
on the board game Panzer. It has not been altered for pbem balance
or historically fact checked. It was my only intention to bring
it to the Squad battles format.\There are no victory points.
The winner is determined by having the majority of victory hexes
at games end. A draw is also possible.\\Briefing: The 3rd SS
Totenkopf Division, covering the left flank of the II SS Panzer
Corps, met a stiff resistance in its advance to the Kursk-Belgorod
road, and finally had to halt in front of the village of Lutschki.
During the afternoon, after having retaken its advance, aerial
reconnaissance aircraft detected a Russian tank force approaching
to the Totenkopf Division area. It was the Russian 36th Separate
Guards Heavy Tank Regiment, equipped with British Lend Lease
Churchill Tanks. The Panzer Regiment 3 stopped East of the Donets
River and set up a blocking position to stop the incoming Russian
counterattack. The Russians boldly engaged the blocking force
and a fierce armored battle ensued. Slow and outgunned, the Russians
took heavy casualties and at the end of the afternoon, 15 Russian
tanks were knocked out, and the rest of the Churchills were forced
to retreat. Although a victory for the Germans, this was only
a warm up of the hell it was to come in the following days.
