\\STALINGRAD, RUSSIA, 19 SEPTEMBER 1942.
\\Tactical
Situation: After 3 days of non-stop fighting, 24th Panzer had
claimed success in capturing southern Stalingrad. The cost had
been high; out of an authorized strength of 180 tanks, it had
less than 20 left, while the Panzer Grenadier battalions were
reporting 40% manpower. 6th Army decided to pull the Division
out of the city for a well deserved rest and refit. The 94th
Infantry Division was left with the painful task of smashing
all remaining Soviet resistance in the area between Railroad
Station#2 & the Volga. This was no easy task; the Red Army was
showing itself very adept at playing a cat and mouse game. Whenever
the Germans moved to capture a new key location, Soviet soldiers
would somehow 'spring up out of nowhere' and recapture the areas
the Germans just left. The Germans simply did not have enough
soldiers to hold everywhere at once. It would take the men of
the 94th Infanterie another 7 days to clear the area. In a cruel
twist of irony, within 24 hours of pulling out of the city, 24th
Panzer was forced to move north to spearhead the assaults into
the Factories.
\\MISSION: The attacks on the 18th have cleared
the Cannery and tightened the noose around the Grain Elevator.
Now 3rd Battalion, 276th Infantry Regiment will clear and secure
the Grain Elevator & surrounding buildings; Keep pushing north
to take the Sugar Mill and any other key locations to clear everything
south of Barrikad Street.\\Design notes: Please use the optional
rule 'Alternate Fire Density'. Do not use 'Quality Loss Modifier';
players may use any of the other optional rules upon agreement
of both players. This scenario has variable reinforcements that
could possibly change the tactical situation very quickly, so
stay alert for unit arrivals. No two games should ever play
the same. This scenario continues the fighting from scenario
