28 September, 1944. Ngesebus and other small islands located less than 1,000 yards from the north shore of Peleliu Is. Historical scenario. Best played as the American or against human opponent. Best played with "extream fog-of-war" option. While the fight for Peleliu continued, the 5th Marines had reached the north shore of Peleliu Is. Across less than 1,000 yards of shallow water lay Ngesebus and other small islands which were being used as a relay point for Japanese reinforcements from Babelthaup Is. (where the bulk of the Japanese troops were located in the Palaus Island group). They were destined for Peleliu. Also, the bulk of the Japanese artillery was dug in on these islands and were giving the Marines on Peleliu an extreamly hard time. The order was quickly given to amphibiously assault Ngesebus and the other small islands to eliminate the problem. The 3rd Battalion of the 5th Marine Regiment was the only unit availible to take the objective. The 3rd Battalion had already suffered casualties in the fight for Peleliu, but were in better shape than the rest of the regiment. This would be the 2nd amphibious invasion for the 3rd Battalion of the 5th Marine Regiment in less than 2 weeks. The Marines were anticipating a quick and lethal engagement.
