16th at the Bug - The Matrix Games version of East Front II

As the sun rises on the morning of the 24th, Operation Barbarossa is 2 days old and the 16th Pz Division is poised to strike across the River Bug, just to the west of Pervamais'k. Their objective is to cross the river, sever the rail line to Odessa, eliminate any Russian units and continue to drive north and east to to link with other forces advancing into the Ukrine. During its drive on the Bug the 79th Motor Rifle Regiment crushed the defending Soviet forces, leaving behind some isolated pockets of demoralized units, then during the night forced a river crossing, gaining a toe hold on the east bank, while the engineers worked franticly to build pontoon bridges for the division's armor to continue the advance. On the other side of the river, the Russians have moved heavy armored forces with T-34 and Kv heavy tanks into the area with orders to push the invaders back into river or become heros of the Soviet Union. This is the prelude to the largest tank battle ever, until Kursk.
