(Human Axis versus computer) DAY 2 of Operation Sonnewende: Orders for General Leutnant Unrein, commander of the 39th Panzer Corps / Western Attack Group of the 11th SS Panzer Army under General Steiner. Immediately begin your attack with the Kampgruppen from the Pz. Div. Holstein, 10th SS Pz. Div. 'Frundsberg', and 4th SS PzGr. Div 'Police'. They must destroy the Russian salient that stretches from Pyritz to Arnswalde. This will secure the western flank of the relief corridor to the previously beleaguered and trapped garrison at Arnswalde that the 'Nordland' (11th SS Pz. Div.) created yesterday. Use Kampgruppe 'Holstein' to secure the eastern shore of the Maedu See, Kampgruppe 'Frundsberg' to secure the bridgehead over the Faule Ihna River, the Mobile Group from 'Wallonien' as blocking force for 'Frundsberg', and Kampgruppe 'Police' to take the bridgehead over the Ihna River. Once these are secure, drive your panzers deep into the 1st Byelorussian Front's rear areas preventing them from securing bridgeheads over the Oder River, disrupting their preparations for their final push to Berlin, and relieving some pressure on the Kuestrin area.. DESIGNER NOTES: Turn on the FIXED UNIT display. Fixed German units represent the front line and are NOT part of your attacking Battle Groups. Also check the RELEASE SCHEDULE to see when some Kampgruppen will be available (historically the different groups did not attack simultaneously).
