Gil'dendorf, 20km NE of Odessa: [Best Played vs Human Opponent]: With the successful capture of Mal Bujalik on the morning of the August 10th, 1941 the lead elements of the Rumanian 1. Armoured Division advanced towards Gil'dendorf with the objective of seizing the small city. The tanks of the 1st Battalion, supported by the recon and engineer elements of the division, were advancing slowly in the desolate countryside northeast of the city. The minor hills laying between the tanks and the city blocked the view of what was in store for the lightly armoured tanks. The Russian 421st Marine Division had pulled back and entrenched themselves in and around the city. Strung along the line were 45mm AT guns and numerous light tanks. The Rumanian supporting infantry were held up at Mal Bujalik and were late arriving at the scene, leaving the R2 tanks at the mercy of the Russian gunners.

Do you feel lucky? If not, then you'll settle for a draw.
Resolve then, that on this very ground, with small flags waving and tinny blasts on tiny trumpets, we shall meet the enemy, and not only may he be ours, he may be us. --Walt Kelly
