Tarasovka, S of Staraya Russa: [Best played against Human opponent. Recommend the use of optional armor facing rule.] Most small unit actions on the Russian Front rarely made it onto the pages of history, but to the men who fought them death and defeat could come just as quickly as in a major engagement. Small villages unknown hills and road junctions were fought over and changed hands time and again. One such location was south of Staraya Russa at Tarasovka. Late on 24 May, German patrols reported a Soviet column moving towards the small village and the narrow passes through the hills to the east. Major Stenzel, commanding the 132nd Motorized Grenadier Battalion, was ordered to move as quickly as possible to block the Russian advance. While happy that for once regiment had assigned a number of support units to back up his well-used battalion, he was far less enthusiastic about his new assignment. For Stenzel had been to Tarasovka and it's blood soaked slopes before. That time he'd left most of third company in the dirt of what was better know as: "AMBUSH RIDGE!" Needs some balance work. Axis winning twice as many games as Allies.

Close victory. Could have gone either way.

Germans dug in, defending VL's is relatively simple, set trap and wait.

Takes the Allies 3 of the 12 turns to get to the first VP's where any decent Axis player is already well positioned and waiting. W/L being 2 to 1 tells the story. Needs balancing.
