Morshanovo/Dyaglevo region, Vyazma sector, 40 Km SW of Vyazma:[man:man or Russian] In early 1942, as the Russan Winter Offensive had run it's course. Here near the German stronghold of Vyazma, the Russian 1 Cavalry Corps, supported by Gen. Belov's Group (partisans) has driven into the German rear area and together are now supporting the 8th Airborne Brigade. German units are
in close persuit. The partisans have indicated that the 5th Panzer Division supply depot sits in the town ahead. The cavalry and the partisans have been raiding German supplies for weeks but their persuers are on their heels. The German must move fast and hard to save it's depots and put an end to this rear area threat.
This Russian group did manage to evade their persuers and return to Russian lines in the early summer of '42. Owing much to the cooperation of partisan forces and the capture of German supplies.
