Tatarka, 5km SW of Odessa: [Best Played vs Human Opponent]: Russian counterattacks became a regular occurrence along the frontline of the encirclement of Odessa. Battles reminiscent of the First World War were constantly being engaged from the trenches along the frontline. Advances of 500 metres were rare, although they did happen and on occasion probed deeper. One such occasion was September 2nd, 1941 when elements of the 54th Rifle Regiment supported by tanks attacked along the divisional boundary between the Rumanian 8. and 14. Infantry Divisions. The Russians drove through the trenches and into the area occupied by the 25th Rumanian Artillery Battalion. Bitter hand to hand fighting ensued and the Rumanians managed to save their guns. Only the arrival of two battalions from the 1. Guard Regiment "Mihai Viteazu", 1. Guard Division supported by tanks did the frontline stabilize once again.

Could be a good scenario with a little work, but as is, totally favors the axis player. Too bad.
Resolve then, that on this very ground, with small flags waving and tinny blasts on tiny trumpets, we shall meet the enemy, and not only may he be ours, he may be us. --Walt Kelly
