Novgorod, 170km SSE of Leningrad: [Best played as Axis or against Human opponent] Esparza's 269th Regiment, led by the balding, wiry Roman, "liberated" Sitno on the previous afternoon, capturing several Maxim MGs and a number of prisoners. The surviving Russians of the 848th Rifle Regiment disappeared into the nearby woods, and the Iberians of the 269th halted to reorganize. At about 0500 hours on the 23rd, however, the Spaniards awoke to the sputter of machinegun fire. The survivors of 267 Rifle Division's 848th Regiment, strongly reinforced by 1st and 2nd battalions of the 1002nd Regiment (305th Rifle Division), were counterattacking. Advancing stealthily in the dim light of early dawn, several platoons of Russians managed to infiltrate the Spanish positions before the alarm was sounded.

Should note that in my game frozen troops never released. Since 40% chance for that to happen it seems to be a rare occurrence. The point requirement kept the game a draw till last few turns.
