Duderhof Hills, 25km S of Leningrad: [Best played as Axis] An area that had proven to be an ideal observation point of the southern approaches to Leningrad, were the well defended Duderhof Hills. From this area, Soviet artillery fire could be called in with accuracy upon the advancing Germans. On September 12th an assault by the German 1st Panzer Division to clear the hills was began. One of the most important objectives was Hill 167. Protected by elements of the Russian 70th Rifle Division, which would become the elite 45th Guards Rifle Division, and a militia battalion with a thick wall of gun emplacements, pillboxes, trenches and interlocking machine gun fire. Soviet guards units are used to represent the quality of the Russian troops.

A tough go for the Axis player with nearly every objective is inside a bunker. The Axis player receives a good mix of troops, enough smoke rounds & lots of time to accomplish the mission if you capture a bunker. The Allied player has a very complex and strong defensive position but still needs to react precisely to counter the attacks of overwhelming odds... IMHO

More fun than it may look. For a scenario that wasn't designed for PBEM, it plays well with two human opponents. Germans have much better quality troops, Russians have pillboxes and bunkers. Both sides have a lot of artillery. German player needs to give serious thought to how to deal with fixed defenses.
