Pochapintsy, E of Lysanka, 170km S of Kiev: NIGHT [Best played against Human opponent] By the middle of February 1944, it was obvious that the German 3rd Panzer Corps would not be able to punch through to the trapped divisions in the Korsun (Cherkassy) pocket. If they were to survive the surrounded German divisions would have to save themselves. The 16th and 17th was set as the date for the breakout. Any longer and there would be no strength left! On the left would be the remainder of the 5th SS "Wiking" Panzer Division. Its objective was the village of Pochapintsy and the slow moving Gniloy Tikich River, beyond which was the relative safety of Lysanka and the 3rd Panzer Corps. All that stood between them and freedom was the high ground and the Soviet 5th Guards Tank Corps. The 5th SS Reconnaissance Battalion, leading the division and its remaining armor, reached Morentsy after much fighting. Now they were faced with a strong Soviet tank and infantry position, beyond which lay the half-frozen river and freedom!

The night effects in version 1.03 make this a most difficult game for the Germans side. But, it balances the game out compared to version 1.02

Fun, small night scenario; lots of strategic options available to both sides.
While I thought this was slightly pro Allies, it is a lot of fun. I love the night scenarios, and the complexity of using smoke and flares to affect the battle.

The dug in Russian infantry and AT Guns are a tough nut to crack in this night scenario with the limited German resources available.
Entertaining, but adjusting the victory conditions to make things more difficult for the Axis player would be an improvement.
