Along the Vistula River near Warka, 50km S of Warsaw: [Best played against Human opponent or as Axis] As the Russians sought to expand their bridgehead across the Vistula and move deeper into Poland, a most unpleasant surprise awaited them. On August 5, 1944, the Hermann Goering Division moving up from Warsaw, drove hard into the advancing Soviet 8th Guards Army. But despite six separate assaults the Germans could not penetrate the enemy's lines and get to the Vistula river bridgeheads. On the next day the "Hermann Goering" Panzer Regiment, equipped with the newest armor, including the King Tiger, was brought up to the line. Quickly the antitank weaponry of the screening infantry units was overrun. Rushing to the Guards rescue were elements of the reinforced 34th Guards Heavy Tank Regiment equipped with some of the Russian's new heavy model JS-I and JS-II tanks. Thus the newest of the new faced each other in a series of fierce tank skirmishes. The Soviet's 122mm guns dueled the long 88's of the Tigers!

A EF2 Classic......even with the lack of artillery....guess with all those IS2m's and King Tigers
you don't need any......This scenario is a must play for all EF2 Fans....
Jim von Krieg
Classic EF scenario, one of the best. Russians start at a distinct disadvantage, but can make it up IF the German commander gets a case of the slows. If the IS-2's are delayed too long, the Germans will most likely win the scenario.

A late war classic......

A lot of fun to play, but the lack of artillery, smoke, and airstrikes left me wanting more. The Germans have a tremendous amount of material to work with. Game started out minor German defeat and stayed that way throughout the scenario.
Thus, what is of supreme importance in war is to attack the enemy's strategy.

allies should have higher reinforcement odds earlies in the scenario.game was over before I got all my units ready
Von Luck
If playing by the new assualt rules the German advance is severly hampered. On the plus side the German armour is in a position where it was'nt before to counter Russian armour.Take your pick old or new.

A Eastern Front Classic....
Played with the new extreme assult rules it becomes a complete bloodbath for both sides......

My gracious opponent surrendered, I think, too early for this to be a true representation of what the end result would have been. I think that ultimately it more likely would have been a draw or at best (from my perspective) only a minor Axis victory.
Cole
Russians need to delay the Germans as long as possible. VP hexes are located in LOS of the bigger Tigers and Panthers therefore the moderate Pro Axis rating.

For the Axis to get a Minor Victory this game is Totally Pro-Axis. For a Axis Major Victory then the game is balanced.
Jim von Krieg
If the German player pushes very hard in the beginning it is almost impossible for the Russian player to overcome the opening massacre.

victory was less than 15 points away till last turn.

Germans are on that attack and need to move quickly to break up the Russians creating a viable defense as they wait on the Heavy Tank Brigade reinforcements. This battle hinges on the speed of the German commander in the attack and the dice rolls bringing the Russian heavies onto the battlefield. It can be a walkover or a nail biter. Yet, with all the firepower its always a terrific fight.

Good map, I liked the whole order of battle (which gave the Soviets a lot of tanks and the Germans a larged amount of Panzer VI's and V's) and all you can do within a game on it.

My opponent used his German force like a gourmet chef. I was swept off balance from the first contact and kept that way.
Another that will sadden me to see it go.

Excellent scenario. Axis have the initiative at the start with many tactical options so a sound - and possibly more agressive - battle plan is advisable.
