Gorodishche, 150km NW of Moscow: [Best played as against a Human Opponent - please view the read me for more information] With the nearing of the rainy season the Wehrmacht stages yet one more push on the out skirts Northwest of Moscow. The 1st Panzer Division has been brought up to full strength with 2 regiments of the new Panther tanks. With full support the division stages off Southwest of Gorodische headed for an enveloping manuever around Moscow. To forstall the assault the STAVKA sends the reserve forces of the 2nd Guards Tank Army to met the powerful Panzer Division.

This scenario depicts a massive - and elite - axis armored corps smashing into a Soviet corps. If the russians do all the attacking, as they did here, the axis will win easily. However, if the Soviets hide, the axis will be forced to go offensive, running into massive number of t-34's op-firing at point-blank range, possibly resulting in a wipeout for the germans. Overall, a fun, but challenging game.

Thus, what is of supreme importance in war is to attack the enemy's strategy.

Russians have to play defense otherwise forget it

Germans have a lot of crack armor. Russians have decent amount of armor as well, but as usual they have to pick their battles. Open terrain favors long range of panzer guns. Russian biggest asset is a large artillery numbers. Once they arrive in full, they can make a difference. Their large numbers were able to score a decent number of disables on Germans tanks parked in the open.
