Neisse River Region on the Polish-German Frontier. [Best played head to head or as Allies with FOW.] There was no rest for the Germans as the Soviets tore across Poland in January & February. Time and again the Germans would stabalize a defensive line only to have it smashed or bypassed as the Soviet juggernaught headed for Germany proper. As the 9th Army fell back to the Neisse valley, a hasty defense was thrown together to slow the Soviet onslaught. Any available troops were thrown into the line to bolster the defense. But as had happened in earlier months, the Soviets were able to throw a bridgehead across a river in this case, the Neisse and apply pressure in a westerly direction. As the Soviets began to move again to capture Gernstadt and drive westward, the Germans knew this was the final chance to stop them before Germany. They knew the fighting would be hard. They knew it would be Hell on the Neisse!!

The Axis units to be released earlier (or immediately)to make it balanced. Too many volksturm on the front lines offer no resistance early. Could be a great one.
