Near Mt. Elbrus, Caucasus Mountains [For H2H play] Major Hirschfeld led the II./98 Gebirgsjaeger Battalion toward Klukor Pass near Mt. Elbrus. With the huge rocks and steep mountain terrain, the Russian defenses seemed impregnable. A frontal attack was impossible. All their movements lay under observation by the 1st Battalion of the Russian 815th Rifle Regiment. Through deception and audacity, the German mountain soldiers gained the ridge and stormed the 2816-meter-high pass on 17th August, 1942.
