Although the glory of blitzkrieg has lead one to believe that the German Werhmarct was a vast armoured formation, this wasn't the case. Many of the battles fought were infantry battles; in the forests, towns and villages that dotted the Russian landscape. This is one of those battles. The 442. Infantry Regiment was assigned the task of clearing the small town of Vaiatu, Estonia and create a bridgehead over the Kullavere River. The Russian defenders have had time to build moderate defenses. An assault company was to assist in the battle, but the company appears to be delayed.
