Kampfgruppe Fischer Strikes Southward - The Matrix Games version of East Front II

[Mikepercs, Hungary]:[H2H][HIS][ALL:N VV] The 12 th of October started with an attack by all the panzers in Debrecen - seven Panthers and an assault gun - a FlaK platoon and a grenadier platoon. At 0700 hours, Kampfgruppe Fischer, of the 23. Panzer Division moved out to the south on orders of the local commander for Debrecen. The mission was to open up Highway 43 to the south, and take Mikepercs. The town was reached through thick ground fog. They cleared the town of weak enemy forces, presumably cavalry and tank units from the 4 th Guards Cavalry Corps. The enemy also dominated the Debrecen - Mikepercs road from the west with their fires. The panzers and grenadiers attacked northwest after leaving behind outposts in Mikepercs. In a fight with Russian T34 tanks and infantry, three Soviet tanks and five anti-tank guns were eliminated before the enemy was thrown across the railway line to the west. The kampfgruppe had help from the Feldersatz battalion, especially the 2 nd Company, which had been approaching from the east. The 3 rd Company delivered a high rate of fire from its horse drawn Model 18 light field howitzer. Artillery observers in the Mikepercs church tower directed fire.
