(Hypothetical) After General Erich von Manstein's successful counterattack, in march 1943, which stabelised the Eastern Front, and avoided a massive disaster taking place. Hitler asked Manstein to conduct a plan to regain the initiative in the east. Von Manstein put forth to plans, the one being used, known in history as operation Zitadelle, and an otherone, which is the one being conducted here. Manstein thought it possible to lure the Russians into a trap. This he planed to do by letting the Red army advance and retreat orderly towards west untill the new armor was avaleble in suficcient numbers to make an armored thrust in the Red armies rear from the north, thus cutting off the armored spearhead of the Russians and inflict severe casualties.
