Panzer Division in Defense: After the collapse of Army Group Center, Russian units made great inroads into occupied Poland, some reaching as far as the Vistula River. The Russian 16th Tank Corps, of the 2nd Tank Army, crossed at Magneszew (pronounced MAG-noo-shev) and was stopped by the 19th Panzer and Herman Goering Divisions, just 40 miles south of Warsaw, which was gripped by a major Polish uprising.
