Grodno, Belarus: (H2H or as German): As the armored spearheads of Army Group Center plunged into Soviet territory, Red Army commanders received frantic orders to mount immediate and hopeless counterattacks. One such order came to General I. V. Boldin, deputy commander of the Soviet Western Front. Already cut off, Boldin nevertheless massed a "shock group" of three corps and drove northwest towards the town of Grodno. He hoped to hit the right wing of Hoth's Panzergruppe III, but the blow landed on Strauss' Ninth Army instead. While the Russians were all but annihilated in two days of fighting, they did cause considerable panic there, when the 33rd Tank Division hit the German 256th Infantry Division.

Good mix of forces but time is not on the Russian side. They need to push hard to get anything close to a win or even a draw. The victory point vales are a bit unbalanced for the Russians to win a major. As they sit now all the German forces would have to be destroyed with the Russians having comparatively few losses to attain a Russian major victory. Against equal players the Germans should prevail most of the time.
