Putingrad, Northwest Donets Region: (best played H2H) v.2. Following the debacle at Kursk, the Germans
attempted to withdraw their southern armies in a somewhat orderly manner to the Dnepr River.
In this hypothetical battle, the Germans have sent elements of the 11th Panzer (Ghost) and
25th Panzergrenadier divisions towards the mythical city of Putingrad, located in the northwest Donets
basin. Being a vital communications and transportation hub, their mission is to capture the city and
hold the surrounding area. This will secure the southern flank and allow their comrades to the north
easy access to the Dnepr. On 23 August 1943, Soviet forces had rolled into an abandoned Kharkov to
complete the fourth and final battle for that city. This was their primary objective and the crowning
achievement of Operation Polkovodets Rumyantsev, the Soviet southern strategic summer offensive.
The Soviet generals now want to strike westward as quickly as possible in order to keep on the Germans
heels. STAVKA has ordered several tank brigades and other motorized units to head for the industrial
city of Putingrad, on the road to Kiev. Partisan units are known to be operating in the region, and are
accelerating efforts to assist the approaching Red Army. If successful, they may be able to cut off
sizeable German units, inflicting another epic defeat of the Wehrmacht.

This custom scenario has the makings of a future classic. Excellent map, concept, and forces. However, we believe it could use some adjusting. The large map requires more units on both sides, at least a battalion. Thus the whole map can be utilized. In the current state the axis player can easily overrun many objectives leaving the allied player struggling to make a counterattack. Russian forces do need to be expanded. Our battle ended up in a stalemate
