[This scenario is intended to be played with the Blitzkrieg EFII expansion pack installed] [Teamgame : 3 vs. 3] Some 104 days ago, the Soviets managed to encircle both Demyansk and Kholm. The idea was to destroy the northern pocket (Demyansk) and ekiminate once and for all, the threat to Leningrad's supply lines. However it turned out differently! Instead of being overrun, the Germans held their ground at Demyanks and the onrushing 4th Shock army was unable to take the little town Kholm in it's initial assault. Both pockets were re-supplied by air and the defenders had time to build a series of fortifications as the weather worsened and all offensive operations were frozen in place! Just as there brethern in the north, General Scherer, the commander of the encircled troops at Kholm, made his troops build a makeshift airstrip, appropriatly named "Klein Tempelhof" (Tempelhof as the major airfield in Berlin). Not only did his troops get the needed supplies to sustain their positions, but they got reinforcements as well! However when the weather began to change, it was becoming clear that the Kholm garrison was in need of relief! All through the winter, the Soviets had slowly but surely built up the strength of the encicling troops. With 4th Shock army halted at Velukye Luki, the smaller pocket at kholm seemd very tempting, so the beleguering troops at kholm were substantially reinforced ; A reinforced rifle division and no less than four rifle brigades were ready to make the final assault. Meanwhile, the Germans had been planning too! The remainder of the 218 infantry division (that was not trapped in the pocket) was re-assembled and reinforced. When the first, major, Soviet assaults began on the 105th day of the siege, the Germans too kicked off their relief attack....
