Sabaoani - The Matrix Games version of East Front II

[Best played by the Allies], Historical: On the morning of the 20th o^f August, the IInd and IIIrd Ukrainian fronts launched awaited offensive against Army Group South, from Carpathians to the Danube. The main reserve of the Romanian 4th Army, the 1st Armored division intervened in the morning of the 20th but was soon cut off. Pour coordination and communications insured that the force was divided into small groups, each trying to understand the situation for themselves and retreat to the Romanian lines. One such formation was the 2nd Company of the first Battalion of the 1st Armored regiment consisting of 13 T4Hs. On the morning of the 22nd they reached Sabaoani, a town on the main highway from Iasi to Romani where they were greeted by a Pioneer company and later joined by a German PAK AT platoon. During the afternoon, they spotted a group of 22 mixed armored vehicles (all present but Matildas) which were advancing towards the town, not expecting opposition. They opened fire at 1000 yards and within minutes the Soviet column was ablazed. The forces, terrain and details are acqurate and taken from Ioan S. Dumitru's book, Tanks in Flames.
