Slobodka, 25km S of Bobruisk: [Best played against Human opponent] In June 1944, three years after the German Army invaded the Soviet Union, the Red Army launched its own massive offensive in northern Russia, "Operation Bagration." Central to the German defense was the city of Minsk where two entire Russian Fronts were to converge in a gigantic pincer movement. While 3rd Byelorussian Front drove from the north, the 1st Byelorussian Front was to punch through the German lines south of Bobruisk. Leading the southern attack, T-34s from the 1st Guards Tank Corps crossed the Berezina River and worked through the thick swamp using wooden mats. Guarding this "quiet" area near Slobodka was a thin screen from the German 36th Motorized Division. On the 25th, the attack order "Storm Five-Five-Five" was given and Russian tanks burst from the surrounding woods. Approaching from the north, Kampfgruppe Ulrich from the 20th Panzer Division arrived just in time to reinforce the defenders and try to prevent the Axis formations still east of the Berezina from being cut off and destroyed.

A classic.

Changed by the new assault rules. No longer balanced.

Never liked this one. Feels like a city traffic jam. Battlefield seems too confined for number of units.
A very nicely balanced little scenario that swung both ways until the very last turn.

Map too small for the number of units in game. Lots of traffic jams on road network. A defender's dream and an attacker's nightmare!

It is a bit more difficult for Allied player.
The Germans units points allocation is very generous. A Panther is the same as a T85 but much better armor and gun. The German mmg is the same value as a Russian rifle unit. Totally unbalanced in favor of Germans.
Winnable by either side.
Strong defense units on axis side and not much tunrs will make it difficult for allied side to find a way to victory
This scenario is a good play for either side. I won it once as the Germans and once as the Soviets. I believe the early turns are critical for both sides. The Soviets have to grab as much as they can and then prepare for the German onslaught. Map and counter mix is well done!
Probably was unprepared for the onslaught. Line of site limitations threw me for a loop, probably cause I was no as experienced as my opponent.
