Near Zaslavly, 20km NW of Minsk: [Best played against Human opponent] In an attempt to flank the German defenders at Minsk, Soviet General Chernyakovskiy ordered elements of the 29th Tank and the 3rd Guards Mechanized Corps through a wooded area located to the north of the besieged city. For the Germans it was imperative to protect the railroad line leaving Minsk. Without it, many of the defending troops would remain trapped within the confines of the city. Forever! The 31st Panzer Regiment and the 1st Battalion, 14th Panzer Grenadier from the weakened 5th Panzer Division were reinforced with Tiger tanks of the 505th Heavy Panzer Battalion, and sent north into the woods to plug the gap. As the battle commenced, tanks with infantry support from both sides hunted one another among the trees. The German tank skills once again became evident as dozens of Russian tanks and self-propelled guns fell victim to their accurate gunfire. But it was not enough to affect the overall outcome of the battle for Minsk.
