The German 292nd ,86th and 78th Infantry Divisions have taken the northern part of the village of Ponyri but in doing so have been bled white by the strong complex Russian defences and the fierce Artillery bombardment from Katyusa Rocket Batteries. On July 7th Colonel General Model commits the 9th and 18th Panzer Divisions to try and make the breakthrough.
