The Citadel of Brest-Litovsk - The Matrix Games version of East Front II

On the 30th of June 1941 the operations report for the 45th Infantry Division stated that the Citadel fortress of Brest-Litovsk had at last been captured. The operation to take the fortress had started at 3:15 am on the morning of June 22nd. The entire attack had been planned down to the smallest detail and yet the battle had cost the Wehrmacht almost 500 men killed and 40 officers. A costly start to the war in the east for one Infantry Division. This scenario depicts the vicious fighting on the 3rd day of the battle when the 3rd Battalion of the 135th Regiment, 45th Infantry Division was cut off in the area of the Central Island and unable to retreat and too weak to attack were simply trying to hold on until hopefully help arrived...
