The Desperate Lunge - The Matrix Games version of East Front II

Maloyaroslavets area, 80km SW of Moscow: [Best played by any method] After the fall of Maloyaroslavets, the 19th Panzer Division renewed its efforts to drive up the Maloyaroslavets-Moscow highway toward the Russian capital. While the bulk of the German division is entangled in mopping up operations in and around Maloyaroslavets, a weary and depleted 19th Recon Battalion, reinforced with tanks and panzergrenadiers, attempts to break out toward Moscow. Their path is blocked by remnants of the Russian 312th Rifle Division, which has retreated from Maloyaroslavets and established a number of hastily constructed defensive positions along the crucial road. As temperatures drop to sub-freezing and a light snow begins to fall, two exhausted enemies embrace in a desperate struggle for a few kilometers of road, the control of which can lead to final victory or defeat.
