The Razor's Edge - The Matrix Games version of East Front II

Taranovka, 40km S of Kharkov: [Best played against Human opponent] By the beginning of March 1943, the Soviet Sixth Army and Armored Group Popov had been annihilated south and west of Kharkov. Now it was time for Field-Marshall Manstein to reach out towards the city again. While the SS Panzer Corps made a wide sweep to attack Kharkov from the northwest, the 48th Panzer Corps pushed northwards across the railway line from Lozovaya. Desperate to gain a few days or even a few hours to prepare for the defense of the city, the Russians tried everything. The 25th Guards Rifle Division was ordered to hold a line south of Kharkov from Zmiyez to Taranovka and Merefa. At Taranovka portions of the 78th Guards Rifle Regiment and 195th Tank Brigade rushed to secure a snow covered ridgeline known as "The Razor!" Advancing from the south were the leading elements of the 6th Panzer Division, eager to occupy the frozen heights commanding the city and open the route to Kharkov!
