Along the Vistula River near Warka, 50km S of Warsaw: [Best played against Human opponent or as Axis] As the Russians sought to expand their bridgehead across the Vistula and move deeper into Poland, a most unpleasant surprise awaited them. On August 5, 1944, the Hermann Goering Division moving up from Warsaw, drove hard into the advancing Soviet 8th Guards Army. But despite six separate assaults the Germans could not penetrate the enemy's lines and get to the Vistula river bridgeheads. On the next day the "Hermann Goering" Panzer Regiment, equipped with the newest armor, including the King Tiger, was brought up to the line. Quickly the antitank weaponry of the screening infantry units was overrun. Rushing to the Guards rescue were elements of the reinforced 34th Guards Heavy Tank Regiment equipped with some of the Russian's new heavy model JS-I and JS-II tanks. Thus the newest of the new faced each other in a series of fierce tank skirmishes. The Soviet's 122mm guns dueled the long 88's of the Tigers! NOTE, there are 2 versions of this in the zip file. One is a standard game with infantry, armor, and arty. The other a fun tanks only game.
